Karen Emrey has been hand dyeing yarn and fiber for over 20 years. She works out of her home studio, and sells at events and the local farm market.
Growing up Karen's mother sewed for Karen and her sister, herself and the home. She still sews for herself and her home. It was a supportive environment where Karen and her older sister learned to knit and crochet. Creative and academic interests were encouraged.
After studying Anthrology in college, with her main interests in archaeology and textiles, Karen learned spinning and natural dyeing from Lydia Van Gelder in Santa Rosa, California. And everything else is Lydia's fault!
Many other workshops and classes followed, including 29 years of workshops and retreats at SOAR.
Karen dyes yarn and fiber because she couldn't find what she wanted elsewhere. Karen hopes you will enjoy her products!
